On Saturday we ventued west to attend an NCT interpretive hike at the Norwich Mine site in Ontonagon County's Trap
Hills.  The mine is found along the North Country trail.

With fall colors at their peak, I told my pack we needed to get out there and see them!

We parked on the NCT but we thought it would just be a short hike to the mine.

Let's go!

Ya!

We made the first peak and saw the humdity would limit our views today.

Another view, looking west

This section was blazed but short on sawyer love.

We spied some classic metal blazes.

We finally located the tour group!

The Marj's were there!

I showed Melinda the path to adventure.

Our guide was Dr. Patrick Martin who's an Industrial Archaeologist at Michigan Tech.

A blacksmith shop site. I socialized some.

Ya more of that!   Pat did a wonderful job telling us details of this 1850's mine.

Ya, I'll miss you too...

We had such a nice hike!

Next, the pack headed to camp at the Porkies. We prefer a more rustic camp, but at least there were lots of friendly people here.
