Yard Church Sunday!

It was quite hot here over the weekend but we did get out for short hikes.  Sadly, Gromit's arthritis didn't allow her out much but on Sunday,  but we all made it to Good Shepherd's yard church!   On that note, her arthritis is not improving, just waxing and waning.
Cindy and Mike hosted and she made sure to invite us!

I got to see Joyce!

Wally says, the sermon got too long, so I'll just take a nap...

Deb, I think I see a squirrel!

Ya you can scratch us, we're on our best behavior.

Me and Cindy greeted everyone.

Oh ya. I don't know you, but do like some rubbing.
About 18 people attended.
I helped Mike with the music.

Ya Bucky you led a nice service again today.

Bucky I hope we can do back yard church on a regular basis.
We recommend it!

Close to home adventures

We don't have anything very exciting to report, although, we have been out for some local hikes.   Gromit stays home for longer hikes.
The day after a big rain, the Swedetown Creek was still silty.

Water was up.
Gromit stayed home since rough trails are hard on her arthritic joins.

Hmm, this stuff has been sitting here since the big 2018 flood.

We stopped by Good Shepherd to say hi to Bucky and grab a
yard sign.
We love everyone whether they go to church or not,
and which ever church they may go to!

On Sunday, we stopped by to hike at Nara.

We noted, they did mow a narrow path through the tall brush.

Ya it could have used a few more passes.  Like many more!
The berry patch on the sledding hill is quite robust.
Why isn't it mowed like ski hills are?

Tech is suppose to take care of the Nara trails.
They don't.....

MMM, cookies! A friendly new neighbor traded for rhubarb.

Bob Lake camping adventures!

On Sunday we packed up to head to Bob Lake campground for more vacation adventures!  We've stayed here made times over the years.
Since no one else was here, we got the best site in the camp ground.

After setting up and having lunch, we headed out for a trail-check.

An old board walk was recently replaced.

The last person to stay at our site was Doug and Marj.  We know them!

The trail and woods was super, terribly buggy but it was nice at camp.
A stiff breeze kept the bugs away and was a refreshing break
from the temps.

MMM ribs for supper!

We had a quiet, relaxing evening.  Hardly anyone here!

Puppies kept occupied watching for squirrels and chipmunks.

MMM nothing better than supper cooked over an open fire.

They had to put up a wind block to cook, it was so breezy.

But the next morning was as still and quiet as could be.

It was hot out on the trail, so puppies had to cool off at any opportunity.

Ahhh, refreshing. Beaver pond water is the best!

After a busy long weekend, some mutts just have to take a snooze.
When do we get to camp again?

Lake Ste Kathryn and Bob Lake camping adventures!

Sandy got Friday afternoon off, so we loaded up the dog truck and camper, and headed south to Lake Ste Kathryn campground to finish clearing the Deer Marsh Trail located there. We love vacation! After we finished up on that trail, we headed northwest to Bob Lake CG which will be in the next post. This is the 2nd year we've taken care of Deer Marsh Trail, and the 3rd year for the Bob Lake Nature Trail, aka Beaver Lodge Trail.
We got to the camp ground and found just one lake side site still open.

Then a friendly neighbor mutt came by  We told him to come by, anytime!   He was an older mutt.

After setting up camp, we visited the host Cheryl.

We went for a quick walk and bumped into kids!

We stopped by Larry and Diane's camp.   Ya, you can rub me some.

Hey! We met you guys here last year.

Lake Ste Kathryn campground is the best.

I smell fresh Lake Trout from Peterson's Fish Market.
They are the fishing family in Hancock MI.

Huuuummm camp supper.

Canoers glide past.

The next morning. Quite a view to sip coffee by.

Then, out on the trail, we clear weeds, ferns and a few dead falls.

I'm not moving very fast, so Sandy took me back to camp.

We cleaned around all the trail signs.
What is that low brush below this one?

Ferns knocked down.

Blue berries everywhere! And ripe!!

Weeds growing up in this boardwalk, before....

Then after - Cleared!

Almost done.

Back at camp, Larry and Diane had guests.  You know we love kids!

In the afternoon, we got back out to clear this boardwalk.

It's overly warm for some puppies so they retreat to nearby shade.

All cleared!

Older dogs got to relax back at camp with Dianne!

We stopped by to say hi to Cheryl again too.

Isn't this a lovely site?

Back at our site, the fire was stoked to get supper cooking.

Dianne stopped by. We love her!

Such a nice evening, cool and bug-free.

Quite a few folks tried their luck fishing.
We had such a nice time here!
