Swedetown Creek Snow-N-Water adventures

We awoke to drizzle on Saturday morning which dampened our idea of going for a ski.  By the afternoon the rain stopped so we thought we should see Swedetown Creek and how high it had gotten.  Not all that high but spring weather was opening her up!
I saw a shark fin at this section.

I'm so brave!
Sometimes I forget I'm a water-dog.  My nose itches!

I need LOTS of moral support for adventures like this!
I see the ski trail bridge. Can we use it??

These are rocks in the creek that deep snow will bridge over.

Oh she is so brave!

I think I'll have to rescue Sandy!

Oh good, no one drowned.

Sometimes the snow covers the WHOLE creek.

We crossed it many, many times.

Ya, sometimes adventure dogs aren't all that brave... Even when the creek is just a few inches deep.

Pilgrim River spring ski adventures

On Sunday afternoon we thought we should BC ski up the Pilgrim River to see it before spring melt sets in..
We started from the Nara trailhead at Michigan Tech.

I get hot using all-paw drive.

I'm all about getting in the woods for adventure.
Ya its starting to look more like spring here and this little river is up.
Later in the spring, we'll see BIG trout in it. Maybe Lake trout??  I love fish!
I'm always willing and ready for a romp in the deep snow.

O-Kun-De-Kun Falls BC adventures

On Saturday my pack traveled to Ironwood and on the way back, we back country skied in on the North Country Trail heading east. With the snow heavy and sticky, we only made it about 4 miles each way. It was tough going, even with all-paw drive!

I was ready for some bounding in the snow!

This is part of the NCT we take care of.

You are SO slow!

At the O-Kun-De-Kun Falls.  They were covered over but we could hear them falling inside.
I'm not getting ANY closer!

Trail work is clearly visible to us...

Bridges are scary!

Ya I'm ready to get off!

Trail markers found on the ground.
Will we get some trail blazes put up this spring??
Many dead-falls are across this trail.
This Porkie fellow won't come out to say "hi".

Snow mushrooms?

Arly had to cut some snow balls off.  They were slowing me down!

A hunting dog can smell Grouse.
I flushed him out all by myself.

How old is this blaze??  Ya we got work to do.

I get through a creek crossing faster than them slow pokes.
Actually the snow was soft and even all-paw drive
was slow today.

Grand Adventures with Larry and David!

On Sunday David W and Larry said they'd take us for a Grand ski adventure across the bay to see the Grand Island ice caves.
I love my new pal David!

Across the lake ice we go!  David knew the safe way. I was so glad.
You should know I'm a very conservative dog.

Lets go! You people are so slow...

An 1850's light house.  It needs paint!
Along the shore we go looking for them caves.  I see some!

Water drips off of and through the rock and forms icicles of all sizes.

I think someone else was here on Saturday.

What's in there Larry? Be Careful!
OK maybe it was us.

We had a grand time at Grand Island. Maybe we'll
get to come back this summer!
