Christmas day adventures around Perrault Lake!

We've been a little warm here with modest snowfalls, so on Christmas day we thought we'd head to a higher elevation with deeper snow and ski around Perrault Lake.
Today we parked a bit east of the lake road to do an extra ski
along the old road.  Sandy is waxing the skis.
I know that's a sure sign of adventure!

Another fellow parked here comes out of the woods with birch branches.
What on earth could he be doing???

Finally we're off!

A little brushy along the old road.

That don't bother a trail mutt!

Ya, it's good and snowy up here at the lake.

Snowy up in the canopy too.

We head around it clockwise this time.

We make the bridge!  This is the outlet of the lake.

View of the out flow.

View of the lake from the bridge.

We continue around and see the lake through the woods.

Ya, this is my element.

Almost around this nice little lake, we spied trail signs.

Almost back, I see the highway.

We had such a nice little ski today.

Good Shepard means kids for a social dog.

Ya!  On Sunday was the Christmas program with kids.  Can I go?
First off, I get to say "hi" to Jean.  I love her.

It's Anthony!  I missed you.

And your sister Aryel.

I'm not sure what's going on here but that's OK,
as long as I get to be in the middle!

Now in the nursery.

I could stay here all day, as long as the kids were here too.
More friendly people!

We girls like our pretty pink pillows.
I see Max has his own puppy.

I'm not sure who you are, but you can touch me.

Rick!

Oh ya, Liz. You can touch me too, Nick.

Bucky is always good for a rub or two.

Annika and Peter are down at my level....I love that!

What ya got there, Deb?

Hi, Erin.

I love Peter too.

Ya, me hanging out with kids, it doesn't get any better than that.

Twin Lakes Ski Scamp

Ya! Mark tagged along with the pack and we all went west to Twin Lakes State Park, since the rumor was the ski trail there was groomed. Not that trail mutts require that...
This way....

...let's go!

Don't use that thermometer to figure out your wax.
It showed 60!

The snow out here was pretty good!

I got across that just fine. I am a water dog.

Zoom!

Mark zooms too!

Hey! I spy vermin.

Mark checks his compass.  Don't worry,
I'll lead the way back so you lame 2-leggeds don't get lost.

Trail mutts are in their glory on trails like this.

They had tea while I hunted at our favorite overlook.

Hunting's been good! I don't get out much to hunt, ya know.

We checked the snow depth. Pretty shallow!

Time to head back.

We spied some interesting looking scat. Who from???

Could use some brushing here.

Don't fall in, Mark!

Luckily, all the puddles were frozen solid.

We had such a nice scamp in the woods today.

After our ski, we spotted someone in the DNR garage.
He was a friendly Conservation Officer!  This DNR station
and trails, are now officially trail mutt approved

It's been a busy, busy day and I fell right to sleep that night.
