Finally, it's winter for real!

Everyone got out today to enjoy the solstice.

Old dogs enjoy strolling around in fresh snow.

Ya, old dogs have to wear their "boots".

We're so glad it's winter!

After work, Arly got out to Boundary Road Trails. Parking area was plowed some.

Then the roller was hooked up.

It was snowing pretty good!

Sandy and Wally skied as Arly groomed. Sure was a nice evening!

December update.

Sorry we've not been updating the blog in recent weeks! We've started up fb and insta pages to promote Boundary Road Trails, which has been occupying our computer brain power. So here's an update from the month of December!  We'll get some photos of Gromit in the next post.  She's having a pretty hard time getting around now.

We were excited when good snow came early.
Arly got out a few times to plow the parking lot,
and roll down the main trails.

Beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

We had several heavy, wet snow falls which
packed down nicely.

Then we had several days of warm weather,
followed by a day of high winds. Luckily,
the freezing rain that was predicted didn't fall.

Finally, after a big melt, we got a few inches
of new snow. So this Saturday we got out to
Boundary Road Trails to check it out!

Skiing was surprisingly good.

We were pleased to see, no big trees were blown
down during the wind storm, only a few
branches and limbs which we easily moved off.

Note the amount of melting from the last photo taken here.

We only back-country skied from the end of the
cut-across to the picnic table. Not enough snow
to do the whole singletrack. At least we weren't
brave enough!

Hey! I'd like a snack too ya know.

We had such a nice romp here today.

Sunday snow! (really)

On Sunday morning, we headed back to Boundary Road Trails. On our hike yesterday, we'd found a tree had fallen across the trail, so we got out to cut it up and get it off.
Once again the Boss comes along to help.

Didn't take long to dispatch this one.

Later, I got to romp around with a couple
friendly mutts!

They followed my lead and wore their colors.

We got out for a little romp. This is
at the end of the cut-across, near the single track.

Then we hiked out on the yew "deep snow cut-across".

After lunch, the snow guns started up!

It got blustery and snowed hard for a while.

Some dogs have excellent insulation....

While others have none.

Weekend trail and snow adventures!

On Saturday, we met Dave and Lisa to put a kiosk up at the Boundary Road trailhead.

I inspected and approved the digging.

Meghan and her pup Figgy came by!
They live close by so we hope to see them
more this winter.

Next the kiosk got planted.

And then the roof was attached.

Then we went for a romp!

The sun was trying to shine.

I jumped up on all kinds of things.
Why do they make me do that?

We're so glad it's starting to snow!

Ya, at our house, we prefer the winter weather.
The old dog enjoyed strolling around in the snow
and relaxing on it as she watched the yard.

Weekend adventures and snow!

This weekend we had a nice relaxing, stay-at-home sort of time. But, on the bright side, it did snow some and we got out on the trail to enjoy it!

Since we got snow we could see that the
neighbor kids came by to check the kiosk roof out.

Even had to brush off the truck!

We headed out to Boundary Road Trails.
This of course is at the trail head.

Let's get a going!

It was just above freezing as you may have guessed.

Nice to see snow sticking to the trees and bushes.

We stop at the river overlook picnic table for tea.

The yew is so pretty. Especially with snow on it.

I led the way, as usual.

We headed back out on the 2-track cut-across.

I had to keep my eyes peeled for game.

Arly kept me busy jumping up on stuff.
They say it keeps me busy.

What a great day for a romp in the woods.

Back at home, the old girl Gromit enjoyed
getting out on the snow. She always
has been a winter dog!
