Lake Ste Kathryn three day adventure!

Oh happy day! Finally, some real summer fun. Sandy took Monday off so we headed south on Friday to Lake Ste Kathryn to work on trails there and have camping fun in general.  This will be first of two posts.
Arly got the dog truck all loaded up and ready.

We arrived early enough to set up the canopy.
The mosquitoes made the screen sides mandatory!

Saturday morning of course starts with good coffee.

Plus a refreshing dip!

Oh ya, we love to be camp dogs.

Shortly after starting, Bill rolled by and stopped to chat.
We met him and his crew last fall.

They mowed the trail head parking area,
then the first part of the trail that's so grassy.

Hey, that dead turtle might be good to roll on to gain a nice scent.

Then we headed to the next parking area, and trail headed
to the headwaters of the East Branch of the Ontonagon.

Then, the parking area off of Martin Lake Rd.

This area really needed lotsa work last year.
Not so much this time.

We cleared up to the viewing platform,
then stopped to gaze over the marsh.

Break time at camp.

Then, Napur and Kishan joined us for a romp around the trail.

Oh, we did visit our friendly camp neighbors several times.
They had friendly mutts as well.

Still haven't seen any Girl Scouts out here.

Napur took photos of many plants, especially ones
she wanted to look up to identify later.

Ya we all enjoyed bird watching
and just looking at the marsh.

But after all that, us mutts were ready for a nap.

The pack got the shower set up....we recommend
a dip in the lake of course.

Young dogs like to nap in the safety of the camper.

Suppertime! The camp fire grate was damaged
so they had to cook their steak on the stove.

Later we took a little stroll. Beautiful night but when the
breeze quit, the mosquitoes came out with a vengeance!
                                                     Another camp post soon!
