On Gardner Road, for the 4th.

What better way to celebrate, than to head to Gardner Road for the 4th.
We arrived Tuesday evening, and they got the parking area
cleaned up first.  Knocking the weeds down helps reduce the bugs.

Then it was time for some high speed tussling!

It was hot, so we had to take breaks.

Time to chase again!

Arly got a fire going so they could cook supper.

Nice, windless night. Although, a breeze would have been ok.

They had to put bug clothes on.
What a glorious evening to be camping.

Hey, you know I like steak right?

In the morning, it was still warm and buggy.
Gotta have good coffee before doing much else.

Looks like we're going to work by my favorite Tank Creek!

Sandy knocked down the grass, then Arly got his tools out to
secure the bridge down.

He bored these holes in each end of the 6x6's that we had
previously installed to get it further above the creek...

...then pounded in fence posts, to be sure the bridge can't be
washed away.
I made sure to supervise.

Done!
Meanwhile, a frog hunter was at hard at it.

Kelpies don't even know that they don't like water.
Arly! Here I come.
(Note from the owners, he was told to get in the water,
instead he leapt across!)
Oh, OK, you wanted me to swim anyway. No problem!
A cool dip is nice in weather like this.
The last job of the day was to take care of this broken off dead fall
that was hung up and ready to come down onto the trail.
Just some shoving and lopping thanks to a lucky landing.
Our Tank Creek corridor. High and dry once again!
Back at camp, I had to roll in the pine needles.

It was in the mid 90's here today. Hot! I prefer the winter weather!

We were all tired out from working in the heat.
Wally is under the truck.
We woke to rumbles of thunder.
They got the camp packed right before the rain started.
I hope we'll come back soon!
