Easter adventures! Post #1

On Friday the pack loaded up the dog truck and headed east with plans for Easter adventures in northern MN at Sandy's home in Ely.
We needed a romp along the way, so we stopped
at the NCT near Solon Springs WI.

No snow here!

Everything smells like spring.

The woods are actually pretty dry with this sandy soil.

Trail mutts led the way, as usual.

We found a nice camp site to take a break at.

We had to get a drink and take a little dunk.

They must not know, mutts don't need no signs to find a trail.

We were surprised to see no birds in this pond.

Oh, we did find a little snow here

But overall it was pretty hot for a older winter dog.

Mouse hunting was good!

We sniffed the aroma of fresh cut pine.
Forest harvesting was happening here.

A trail romp always builds an appetite.

Finally in Ely, we got to see Gramma and Grampa!
Oh ya we like to visit.

Ya, I like to have my hips rubbed.

I could just snuggle up in your lap!

The next morning, something very interesting was going on
in the basement.

We'd picked up whitefish at Peterson's, and now it's
getting cut up and put into bottles.

That's a fine kettle of fish!

Meanwhile, the big black dog was chasing the puppy
who enjoyed sprinting up and down the steps.
Ya everyone can be rubbing us some.

Grampa was playing cards on the computer.
He's so good at it, he can do it with his eyes closed.

Later, the pack headed out to romp around Dry Lake.

This is right near Bass Lake. We've hiked here several times before.

It was fairly snowy. No problem for all-paw drive though.

The creeks were flowing so we got to have a little dip.

And to think last spring, I was afraid of the water.
Now I'm more of a water dog.

Melting snow and ice were seen in many places here.

Hunting was good, of course.

Ya, real snow in snow spots.

We checked out the rapids.

Hey! We met a friendly hiker.

We're always glad to see a mutt-friendly person.

Almost back.

Better take one more snow bath.

I agree!
