On Saturday morning, the wind was howling so we headed for Swedetown Creek gorge in hopes of staying out of it.
It snowed a bit last night, but I see my pack is not donning
any skis today. |
| I was off hunting and they left me in the parking lot! |
| Sandy and Arly installed this gate, about 8 years ago. |
| Creek is up some. |
Even old dogs like me are feeling rather spunky
with the temps being cool. |
| This is debris from an old bridge left here from the flood in June. |
| We have NO idea why they want us to sit here! |
| Ya, we like to get out now and then. |
| Here an old bridge sits, and we sit on top of it. |
| We leapt way up on this big rock. |
Now they make me, just a puppy, swim across the torrent
and sit on the island... |
| Well, maybe it is just ankle deep. It was kinda scary though. |
| Later, we stop for tea, a cookie and a snow bath. |
| Who was here? We seen no fresh tracks today but ours. |
| Through the alder thicket we trek. |
| We took care not to fall in. |
| The crusty snow was very firm everywhere. |
| Hey! Almost all the snow is off the pedestrian bridge. |
Arly says, once the river is roaring at spring melt time
this bridge could wash away. |
Heading back, retracing our steps because it's too breezy to romp
on the trails on top of the ridge. |
We heard and saw a pileated woodpecker today.
They've been busy around here! |
| Hard to believe we could cross the creek via snow bridge not long ago. |
| We were so glad to get out for a romp on this fine spring day. |
