Saturday adventures at The Monk's trail

On Saturday morning, we headed up the Keweenaw to romp around the Monk's trail in this snow we've got.  It should be an adventure!
This on the Eagle Harbor cut off road.   Snow is good here!

The Holy Transfiguration Skete owns the
property and built this wonderful trail.

Here is the trout pound they built.   You can see the snow is deep!

Puppies still venture into the woods to hunt.

The snow was so deep, following the trail
or even finding the signs, was a challenge.

This trail crosses Jacobs Creek several times.

This is the deepest snow we've ever seen here.

Someone had snowshoed here in the past week.

We got right on the edge.

This is a pretty little cascade on Jacobs Creek.

The snow seemed to be over 4ft deep.

OK, we saw the gorge. Now where?

The snowshoers only did part of the trail.

Who else was here?

We skied right over the top of signs, without seeing them.

It was a glorious ski day, to be out in the snow.

This is the Arnold mine ruins.

Yet another buried bridge.

We skied up to the big picnic table, then back to the ruins.

You can't see this in the photo, but it was built without mortar.

Tea time!

This is a picnic table.

On top of the ruins.  This mine didn't produce much copper.

Back over the snowy bridge and up the poor rock pile.

With sunshine like this, we know its spring.

This is such a pretty spot.

Across the pond bridge again.

Time to head back to the dog truck. We had such a nice ski today!
