Copper Harbor ski trails adventure

On Sunday afternoon, we headed NE to Copper Harbor, to romp on their ski trails before our snow season ends.
A west wind was blowing today.

Plenty of base and firm everywhere.

We hardly seen a soul, anywhere here.
I guess it's now officially there off season.

This is the trail headed towards the camp ground at Ft Wilkins.

There were lots of interesting things to sniff.

Old dogs still feel good as long as there's snow.

We cross the outlet creek of Lake Fanny Hooe.

It was running pretty good!

We pretended to be the Fort's guard dogs.

Let's go!

There was lots of tree debris, thanks to the shrinking base.

Skiing was kinda sketchy in the shadows, but great in the sun.

And where's that Wally now?

Oh there he is.

I found some live game! He made me nervous.

It was a very busy day, between going to church
and visiting Copper Harbor.

Sunday at our best.

We had to be good today, because we were again at Good Shepherd Lutheran church to see the kids there.  You know we don't get out much, nor do we ever see anybody who will really scratch or touch us some.
Oh ya Kerri, I'll give you a little peck.

I'm so glad Aryel took charge of us today.  She's the best!

Oh ya Anthony, we don't get to see you enough.

Matt, we can greet everyone together.

Where did this mutt come from?

You're new here so I'll introduce myself.

Oh ya Matt, you should rub be some more.

Paige!   I see you've got a muffin and I've been soooo good today.

Ya that's right, we need everyone here to scratch us some.

I'll lean on you too, Lisa.
And who are you??  I love little girls!

I'm so glad to meet you.

Oh ya, I'll lick you some. You know they say little girls are sweet!

Paige and Matt, we go way back together and definitely are buds.
Oh, you gals are new here! I like you already.
We do make our rounds.

Oh ya, we could use some ear scratching from you.

Oh good, Cari and Kari are both touching me.

Ya Keith is always good for some ear scratching.

Andrea we promise not to jump on you,
we know not to even though we'd love to say hi!

Can we pose together?

Oh hi Deb.

Oh Cari just ignore that silly puppy.

I bet your folks say you are supposed to share! Please??

Saturday romp in Swedetown Creek gorge

On Saturday morning, the wind was howling so we headed for Swedetown Creek gorge in hopes of staying out of it.
It snowed a bit last night, but I see my pack is not donning
any skis today.

I was off hunting and they left me in the parking lot!

Sandy and Arly installed this gate, about 8 years ago.
Creek is up some.
Even old dogs like me are feeling rather spunky
with the temps being cool.

This is debris from an old bridge left here from the flood in June.

We have NO idea why they want us to sit here!

Ya, we like to get out now and then.

Here an old bridge sits, and we sit on top of it.

We leapt way up on this big rock.

Now they make me, just a puppy, swim across the torrent
and sit on the island...

Well, maybe it is just ankle deep. It was kinda scary though.

Later, we stop for tea, a cookie and a snow bath.

Who was here?  We seen no fresh tracks today but ours.

Through the alder thicket we trek.

We took care not to fall in.

The crusty snow was very firm everywhere.

Hey! Almost all the snow is off the pedestrian bridge.

Arly says, once the river is roaring at spring melt time
this bridge could wash away.

Heading back, retracing our steps because it's too breezy to romp
on the trails on top of the ridge.

We heard and saw a pileated woodpecker today.
They've been busy around here!

Hard to believe we could cross the creek via snow bridge not long ago.

We were so glad to get out for a romp on this fine spring day.
