Trip to Sault Ste Marie!

The Sault (or, "the Soo") is in the far east end of the Upper Peninsula and where our little lake drains into the lower ones.  We heard our pack say we needed to go there to get some machine they'd bought and they hadn't been there in over 20 years.   We're of course not that old, so we'd not been there.
On Friday after Sandy got off, we headed to the NTN campground
near Marquette.  It's trail mutt approved!
Sorry we didn't get many photos here.

Oh ya, there are always friendly cyclists staying here.
These gals are from Petoskey Mi.

These two are traveling to Vermont. They were friendly too.

Julie and Joe had been in Washington state the past
years working and decided to move back home.

Next we went and got that machine, and after that was done,
we headed to the St Mary's river to see if
any boats would be going past.  The Whitefish Bay was!

We drove a little further ahead and waited for him to go by.

Here he comes!  The Whitefish Bay is just a few
years old and not really a big one at 750ft long.

This CSL boat is famous for almost
running a fishing boat over while on her 1st run up the St Clair river.

We chatted with the fellows in the sport boat from Ohio.
You guys be careful of that red boat!

Bye, Bye Whitefish Bay.  Hope we see you again sometime!
After that, we headed west and camped in the
Hiawatha Forest, just south of Munising.
These folks were camped next door and from Cleveland OH.

The next morning, we got out for a little hike.

"The Songbird Trail" was a little 2 mile loop at the camp ground.

Oh this is going to be nice.

We went along a little creek and got in some cool dips.

We found a neat little log bridge across it.

I can't read, but I guess it must be something about a song bird.

Trail mutts led the way, as usual.

We went up the observation tower they had here.

OK, let's go down now and pack up to go home.

The squirrel had no idea who they were dealing with.

We're trail mutts AND hunting dogs, ya know.

Next we stopped in Baraga to look at a trailer and see some kids!

Oh ya, we do love them kids.

Ya, you can run your fingers through my coat.

Wally didn't stand still enough.

Ya, kid time is quality fun.

Although Wally did stand still some.

Oh ya Gram-ma.  They're good to see as well.

This fellow is a bit faster.

When we got home, we feel right to sleep.
It's been a busy, busy weekend
Hey! We're snow dogs too! Arly spied this machine
at the NTN equipment shed at their campground.

This is the snow-n-trail machine they picked up in the Sault.

I heard them say the pods will need to come off and
they'd use it for summer trail work.
Plus they might have some ski trails in the works.....
