Fall camp adventures!

Oh ya.  On Saturday afternoon we headed south to Courtney Lake to camp and hike.  We'd never camped there before!
We arrived a bit before dark so Arly had to get our fire going ASAP!

In the morning, we had another chase-growl-and-snap session.
Mutts like to do that!

Then we went to get a closer look at the lake.

I stayed close when the bacon was ready.
Wally kept an eye on that squirrel.

Starting to look like fall around here...
We headed to the starting point.
Back to our favorite hiking trail - the North Country Trail.

We first checked an area we need to brush back this fall.

We've cleared both ends of this segment previously.
This plank could stand to be shored up too!

Well shoot. This is where we cleaned up the popple crown
a few weeks ago.
The loggers came back with a dozer and cleaned it all up!

No worries....always more trail segments that need sprucing up.

Speaking of getting spruced up - we spied lotsa lop-n-drop
balsam's today.

And some very pretty leaves!  We had lunch on the tail gate,
then hiked in the other direction.

We hiked an area that we were on earlier this summer.
Guess Arly needs to come back with his saw to get
this tree that's been here since last summer or longer.
We're so glad to see the fall colors coming out!

Yes there's logging going on, but not today.

Weed whacking!

We got to the big swamp.

This was our turn-around spot, since it was in the 80's.
We prefer the winter weather, ya know.

We walked out on the logging road.

We've seen a slasher like this in operation before.

The landing had nice stacks of wood ready to be hauled out.

I hope we'll be camping again soon.
