Gunflint hikes and training conference.

On Thursday this past week, we loaded the dog truck and headed west to Duluth MN, there we took a right turn and headed up the north shore all the way to the Gunflint lodge.  It was a long day in the truck but we did stop for several short walks but it rained most of the day.
My pack was attending a trail crew leadership training
conference here.

We got here late in the day and its drizzling, but we're glad to be out!
This is the little cabin we rented.  It was nice!

We did get in some short hikes on the trails surrounding the lodge.

  This is a snowshoe trail.

The training sessions didn't take up all our packs time.

This was on Saturday and the rain had ended.

Nice views could be had along them.

Trails like this is what trail mutts are all about.

This is Jared and he's from the cities.  We love him!

Here is Matt and Valerie who both work for the NCT.

Ya, we love these people who help on trails.

How could we not!

Seems they all are trail mutt friendly.  We made the rounds.

More hikes near the lodge.  These are ski trails.

Lets take this trail.

Its cool out and looking lots like fall.

More high rock views.

We found zip lines here.

And many pretty views.

This tower was built for the zip lines.  Can we go on them?

We hiked to a nice little lake here.

We spied this warming hut along the ski trails.

Back at the lodge, this fellow is on the staff here.
He was trail mutt friendly. We had such a wonderful time here!
On Sunday we headed to Ely to see Sandy's folks.  We love them!
On the way we stopped to hike on the Superior Hiking trail.
We've hiked and camped on it before

Lots of leaves already down and colors in the trees.

Hey, we found a creek!  Come on in and join us!

Funny, Sandy didn't.

We've been on the SHT before and really like it.
Its going to be part of the NCT soon.

What a prefect day to be a trail mutt and out in the woods.

Next stop is in Ely MN!
