Saturday's North Country Trail hike

On Saturday, the pack decided to get out for a nice long NCT hike on a section we'd not done before.
Ya Gromit, we're finally going to have some adventure!

Wally, this is the trail to Canyon Falls.
We've been to the falls before but have never done
a long hike going further west of here.

Hey! A nice cooling stop already.  We like this stuff.

We didn't get too close to the fast moving water.

This little creek is more our size. Water dogs do like to get wet!

Wally, this is Plumbago Creek.

I see fish down there!

Sandy took a look at the hiker log book.

OK, let's get a going.

What's this? A camping area? Hmmm....we hiked
west a 1/3 of a mile and didn't find one.

Back on down the NCT we hike.

Lunch! Me and Wally didn't get any, as usual.
Well OK, maybe a few chips.

We had a short road walk.

Then a 2-track hike.

Hmm, this doesn't seem right.

Guess we missed a corner.
This is intersting stuff stored on state land.

Backtracking, we found the trail again.
In the brush, are some blazes we missed.
OK, back on the trail.

Hey! We met some friendly hikers.

They are making their way across the U.P. on the NCT.
I recommend hiking the NCT....and belly rubs. Hint, hint!
We checked out this survey marker.

As you can see, these Baraga Plains trails are all pretty flat,
but make for nice easy hiking.

Mostly it is dry, but lucky for us we found a little pond to cool off in.

We stopped here again for a little break.

Someone had a camp fire here at this intersection.

Back to Plumbago Creek!

We recommend it for cooling and drinking.
Hey! We met some friendly fishermen along the Sturgeon.
We seen many friendly folks here today.

By the time we got back to the dog truck, we were ready for a nap.
We had such a grand adventure here today!
The 2-leggeds hiked about 15 miles but me and
Wally went way farther!
