Porkies ski and yurt adventure, day 3 and back out!

Here is the last day of adventure and the ski out.
Another glorious morning to be in a yurt, camping and in
da snow.  Oh and I'm hunting first thing!
Back across the snow bridge we romp.

On the ski trail, a Fisher had been romping down it earlier.

We tromped over to the top of the ski hill on our way to the west vista.

We haven't been here in years!

While here, some friendly people from Appleton
came by just to scratch me.  No one ever does that!

Next, we zipped down the Overlook Trail. It really did go down!

We love the old growth hemlock forest.

It was getting sort of soft for bounding.

Impressive dead fall!

Late in the day, I stopped for a cooling drink in the Union River.
It was so pretty.

When we got home, I was hungry.

It was a busy, busy day for an almost-9-yo trail mutt.  I just couldn't stay up any longer.
Finally, the next morning we packed up and head
back to civilization. I hauled out the garbage, as usual.
Trail mutts do that sort of thing.

The pileated woodpeckers have been busy.

Zoom!

Back across Union River.

Snow pack is going down fast, but skiing was fine.

Tree's that had fallen across the ski trail some time ago.

I hope you can join us for our annual fall cabin-to-cabin adventure!

Porkies ski and yurt adventure, days 1 and 2

My pack again headed to the Porkies state park for another ski and yurt spring adventure.  This post will be days 1 and 2.
I carried my kibble, just in case hunting was thin.

We're off! Arly pulled the pulk.

Sandy carried a light back pack.

The trails were great!

Although, we did have to ford this creek here.

I led the way, as usual.   They are slow.

I think we go this way...

Oh ya! Home sweet home.

The next morning, the pack got the day off
to the right start: with GOOD COFFEE.

Finally! We headed off on our back country romp.

I showed her how to get across the little stream.

The sun came out!

We met some friendly campers.
Obviously, they had not been to my blog or they'd be in a yurt too.

We could see Union Spring percolating at the bottom of the pond.

We had lunch at our favorite Cross Cut Cabin.

Then we went to Log Camp cabin. See? It was 44!

Then we checked out the east vista.

Snow bathing with a view is the best. I recommend it!

Finally, we made it back to the yurt.

Good thing I showed him earlier how to get across.

I took a break from hunting for this photo opp.

We had such a nice ski today.

Snow adventures this winter!

Here are some snow-fun photos taken this winter.  Some were taken a month ago when we still had good cover.   Me and my pack just returned from a 4 day yurt-n-ski vacation in the Porkies and had a GRAND time there.  Hunting is always good in the Porkies.   Photos of that will be posted shortly.
This was a ski trail bench at Montreal Trails near Hurley WI.
Me and my pack visited here to look at grooming machines so we
went for a quick romp while there.
This was one of my pack's favorite trails when they lived in the area.

I smelled a mouse!
This was in my favorite Swedetown Creek gorge.

OK, a few more taken in the Swedetown Creek gorge.   Can it get any prettier than this?

This is the creek.  I can hear it!  Creeks don't freeze over here.

Now we headed to Mud Lake to see old
trails we hope to reopen this fall.

Off trail adventures are my specialty!

The Middle Bridge. Hope you got down to see it this winter!

Big Bay ski adventure!

I must apologize for my pack's lameness with helping me keep you up on our adventures this winter. Finally, here's an update of recent adventures me and my pack have been on.
My pal Terry invited us up for adventures with his Big Bay gang!

I made the rounds to see Dennis, Sven, and Nick.
Big Bay is just north of Marquette MI.   I love this place!

The Honey Bear even made an appearance. On TV too!

Finally, we're going!  Seems in all directions.

We admired the nice signs Nick had made.

Terry's weenie roasting venue. What a view!

You don't need a plow with all-paw drive.

Well, at least they all made it down in one piece.

I hope we see you all again soon! I don't get no rubbing at home!

Finally...excellent snow conditions!

I finally egged my pack out for a nice ski on and off the groomed trails today.
This is near the Sisu bridge. I love Swedetown Creek!
It was a wet fall and the creek was high, but its going down again.

We did some exploration romping on the old ski trail on the
west side of Mud Lake.

This is where the trail used to go...we'll re-open it this summer.

Here's Arly's rock marker.

We had such a nice ski today.
