Yah vacation! Part II - days 2, 3, 4, & 5

Oh ya. After our adventure hike in WI we headed west to Duluth. We got to see Gramma and Grampa! On Sunday morning, we hopped in the dog truck and headed to Magney-Snively ski trail, to hike the Superior Hiking Trail (soon to officially be part of the NCT) and the ski trail. Arly and Sandy said way back when they lived in Duluth it was their favorite place to ski.

This is the SHT trail head at Magney Snively.

Oh ya, this is trail mutt stuff!

It followed a high ridge with overlooks.

This is the ski trail we crossed several times on the way back.
I wonder if it's trail mutt friendly?

We stopped to view the St Louis Bay and Harbor.

Hey! We know these two.

Oh ya, no one ever rubs me good.
We love to see Gramma and Grampa!

After our hike, we headed up to Gramma and Grampa's in Ely.

We helped with chores.

Oh, I spied camp gear being organized. Could we be headed out
for a hike n camp?

We are!  This is Bass Lake and just NE of town. 
We've been here before. Well, except for Wally.

Still got snow on the ground here, and this slope is ice.

After finding this ice, we went back to the truck and
got our carbide tooth, Ice trekkers.

Just think Wally, sleeping out is the kind of advenutre we appreciate.

We stop for a snack at this pretty waterfall.

We played it safe, and crossed on the bridge.

They told us to get a drink, but a certain junior mutt would not in
 this scary water.

We made it!  It was just a short hike in.

We're staving!  Trail mutts get that way sometimes.

It's a pretty spot that we'd spied on earlier hikes

We'd brought in dried food and box wine with us

Huummmmm, lasagna!

Now that everyone has ate, maybe we should check the other camp site?

Oh it is pretty but the trail in to it was covered with downed trees.
Maybe we'll stay here next time.

There was still a skim of ice on the lake.

Its sooooo nice here.  Maybe we can just stay?

We'll be good, and always listen! We promise...

Oh, I see Sandy has her pack on again. 

So I guess we'll not be staying.

A 6 month old pup is no match for an 8 month old one!

Oh ya Wally you should come visit more so we can tussle again.

Ya Grampa, I do like that ear scratching.
