Winter Carnival time!

Here in Houghton, we love winter so much that we celebrate it with a big carnival.  Wednesday evening kicked it all off with the all-nighter statue building at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
More photos can bee seen on there site and I'm in many of them!
I helped the crew shape up the formed snow.

Arly cleaned up the area with his snow blower.
This is where the letters will go.

Where's my stick?

I can't find it.

Wonder what it will become...

I don't think they know, either.
Walla! Horton was formed from the snow and ice.
"A person is a person, no matter how small"....but what about canines?
Andrea read us a story in the lounge. I wish I could have went to bed with Nouma and Malia! We all had such a fun evening. Especially the statue builders who hung in there until 3:30. Me and Arly had to nap on Thursday.

Retro ski!

On Sunday, February 2nd we joined Marks gang and skied to Jays retro ski fest in Churning Rapids
It was another busy day at the Maasto parking lot.
What a beautiful day to be out skiing along the gorge!

Mark and I have the same feeling about this.

We got to be social at the camp fire.

Me and Bella are best pals.

I think we might get a snack.

We had such a nice day.

We even got to see a snow boat high in a tree.
I sure hope it doesn't fall on someone!

Saturday Maasto Adventures

Finally! I got my pack out for a ski around the Mud Lake loop (trail 10) on Saturday afternoon.
You guys are slow! And I need to run.

We stopped on Swedetown creek.
I see vermin up there!  A hunting dog never rests.
Do note our base is deeper than the snow appears on the bridge.
The creek melts it

I let her get ahead.

It started to snow.  I love snow. And hunting!

I had to clear ice from my paws.

We saw my friend, Katya.

And her Finch.

Me and Finch are buddies.

We bumped into many, many friendly skiers today..

I analyzed her form...not bad for a 2-legged.

I prefer all-paw drive.

Again we cross the creek.
On a bike bridge this time.

I can't read but I do see snow.

Grooming view from this week...

This is what Arly seen on the trails this week.
He spied someone's lunch hanging out on a branch.

After some windy, cool days, the trails needed to be drug flat again.

The Pine Loop was covered with kindling.

Drifts abound.

Snowy looking windows at the chalet.
Them bad ol drifts got smoothed out.

Ya!

Snow chunks falling on the the Sidewinder hill trail.

Little avalanches tumbled down.

Trees coming down in the gorge needed trimming
Early morning sun over Ruby Marsh.
This is what we like to see.
