Blessing of the animals!!

On Sunday was the annual blessing of the animals at Good Shepherd church!
It started out with lots of social time, even before church.

Lots and lots of friendly people and dogs here today.

Here's a fuzzy little fellow.

Ya, he's friendly too.

OK, now the service has started.

I've been good all year Bucky.

But that Wally, he tries and tries but it's hard for him to be good.

Hey!   This one wants to play.

We miss seeing Lisa.
Everyone was friendly today.

Danielle! I would like to romp with your pup.

Matt brought two with him.

Little Spikey got his blessing too.

After communion, we vacuumed. We didn't mind.

Then we had social hour! Oh ya, we do like little girls who will pet us.

Oh ya Cari.  I'll roll over for you.

Yes I like ear scratching too. How did you know?

Us senior ladies hung out together.

I hope we get to see you again soon!

Saturday fall color romp up north!

On Saturday morning we headed up the Keweenaw for a business meeting in Calumet, then a hike to see the fall colors.
Look like Arly might be operating one of these this winter.
It's a Pisten Bully 400

After that, we headed up to Mount Bohemia for a hike.
We'd never hiked here before.

During lunch on the trail, styrofoam snow started to fall.

Oh ya.

It was so, so pretty here.

We might be at, or just past max color.

Still a great day for a hike.

Some people say "Michigan must be flat".

This is Lac LaBelle we can see below the chair lift.

Winter dogs appreciate this "snow like" weather.

Arly! We could go swimming down there.

This is yet another alpine ski run, down this mountain.

Colors on the way home.

The Styrofoam snow continued to fall at home.
What a nice day to be an outside dog.

Pilgrim River Watershed trails, bridge shuffle trail prep

During the flood that happened here on Fathers Day 2018, one bridge in Pilgrim River Watershed system was washed down stream about 500 ft and stopped, against a tree.    Soon we hope to get it winched out of the creek bed, then haul it back to its correct position.
The BIG boss winch will be put in action for this job.

With the retrieval section cleared, Arly checks to see how the
big machine maneuvers down it.
In the background, you can see the lost bridge.

Sandy is standing among the shoots we'll clear through next.
It sure is fall!

Here it is!

Trails mutts wander about while the trail is cleared.

We couldn't get it back, without this machine.

Ya Arly, you pull over that way.

All done!
We hope to back on Saturday morning to drag the
long lost bridge back.

Fall colors and trail work, at the Pilgrim River Watershed trails

On Wednesday afternoon, Sandy got away from work early and we met Simon and Stephen, to get those Pilgrim River Watershed picnic tables re-coated with stain.   These had been cleaned up mid summer, then wet weather set in and they never got the proper coatings, until now. Oh and LoLo came along to romp with us!
We just got started when Simon, LoLo and Stephen showed up.

Old mutts let the young dogs run around at high speed.
I'll hang with Simon.

We just got this one done!

Now we're busy doing the table at the trail head.

Done! Next job this fall is getting that washed out bridge moved back.
We could use help with that. If you can, just get in touch....

Hikes, fall colors and trail work.

Us trail mutts have been out in the fall colors and doing some trail work.   Sorry that we've not been posting much lately.
We really have been out, but my pack has taken darn
few photos.

This is the River trail in Maasto Hiihto that we helped to clear,
some 10 years ago.

This organization didn't want us to help any longer.

Se we left it.

It sure is full of fall colors out here!

In Swedetown creek gorge.

Oh well.

Now we help on other trails.
We're cleaning up the picnic tables on the Pilgrim river
watershed trails

We'll be back to re-coat them soon.

We love being out here and the hikers appreciate the work
we've done here.
