New snow and romps!!

Oh ya. It started to snow here today, and it kept coming down.  After church, we headed over to the Maasto trails and got out to romp in it.  It was great!
We'd not had any real snow for a few weeks.
We've had nearly 300" so far.

We are on our favorite gorge trails.
Arly will be out grooming them in the morning.

We did a little back country adventure to check the snow depth.

It was so good, we headed towards Mud lake.

Can you believe some dogs don't get out to romp like this?
Maasto is trail mutt friendly!

We zoom down the Outback Trail.

Even the old dogs think they are fast!

Now we're coming down the Iron Ring trail.

Young pups can corner with speed! This is a
bike/hike trail in the summer.

Some dogs have a coat, that keeps all the heat in.

We stopped to admire our favorite creek.

Arly says it's going to keep snowing. Hooray!

We were so glad to get out in it.

Tuesday trip to Marquette

Early Tuesday morning, we loaded the bread box Honda and headed east to Marquette, to have it serviced at the dealer there. We finally got this done since Sandy had to go there to take her 10 year Wound Management Board Re-Certification Exam.
Hey! There's friendly girls working here.

I even found a friendly customer.  She petted me some.
Can we come visit you again some time?

Arly took us around the mall a few times by the dealership
and we made some new friends!
Oh ya, you know I never get any affection.
Wally didn't pee while being scratched!

After Sandy got done passing her exam, we got out for a little romp.

We checked out a little section of the Iron Ore Heritage Trail
in Negaunee.  Maybe we can come back again sometime!

The rest of Easter vaction, and our trip home!

Oh Ya. This will be our last day in Ely and our trip home on Monday
To celebrate Easter, what better way than to romp around
the loop going 'round Bass Lake?

Sunny and cool...just right for trail mutts.

We found some bare ground to sniff.

This is at the far end of Bass Lake.
This spot has a very interesting history.
This is gravel from the great wash out.
Wally! It's getting warm out.
Lucky for us there's still lotsa snow.
Of course, the 2-leggeds complained that it was tougher going.
Here, we've joined back on the trail shared with the Dry Lake loop.

The 2-leggeds had it easier again here.

Almost back, we took a quick break before heading
home for yummy Easter dinner.

Grampa and Gramma opened the gifts we got them.
I recommended some squeaky toys too but I was out-voted.

On the way home, we stopped in to ski the Miner's Park trail.
Mutts always pay, wherever we are welcome!

They groomed it up today, just for us!

There's always something interesting to investigate when
you're out and about.

There was a striding lane, and a romping lane.
We were so happy to get out for a little romp!

We'll stop by again next time we're in town.

Easter vaction adventures.

On Friday morning, we packed the mutt truck and headed west to Minnesota.  We were going to Ely for Easter.  This is where Sandy folks live and we always have fun there!  This post will be of the trip up and the 1st day there.
We stopped in Brule WI at the "After Hours Trails" for a little hike.

This is in their new chalet.  We had hoped to ski,
but thought there wasn't much fresh snow here.

That's OK, because we headed for the snowshoe trails!

Seems they had marked with with a little paint.

They were faintly marked but other people had snowshoed them,
so we didn't get lost

We did a nice loop here that we'd not done before.

On the way back, we crossed a little creek and thought the mutts
should get a drink.
Do you suppose that a pup might be afraid of a creek,
and not get a drink?

No way!  A puppy could drown!

On Saturday, we were going to hike at Hidden Valley in town but they
were still open for skiing.
We couldn't ski there since they are NOT trail mutt friendly.
So we came here, to the Bass Lake Trail, found up the Echo Trail.

Wally, this is this trail has a couple loops.
Today we'll go around Dry Lake.

We've romped here a few times before but never with so much snow!

This creek crossing seems to be missing a bridge.
Good thing it was still froze!

OK, now that we went around Dry Lake let's go see the falls.

Wally, you can get a drink here.
We already from yesterday that it's scary for a puppy...

Hey! There are fun obstacles here.

We had such a nice hike here.

We relax at Gramma and Grampa's. I got lotsa ear scratching!

Hey! I would like some ear scratching too!

Wally, you will have to be on your best behavior and
we know how hard that it is for you!

Ya, we should visit here more often.
