Lake Ste Kathryn day trip adventure

On Saturday, we loaded the truck and headed south to Lake Ste Kathryn campground to clear some camp sites we never got to last summer.   With the forecast for rain starting on Saturday night and continuing on Sunday, we didn't camp, but we did celebrate the day with a tasty fire-cooked supper!

The big Keweenaw Bay looked tranquil with fisherman out there.

We thought someone might be camping
or at least fishing here, but no one was seen.

Look at the lake! Almost totally calm.

We got some brush taken out here and other camp sites.

We heard some noise and found it was
Fred and his crew putting up a new kiosk!

They were sooo friendly.

These steps got undermined from high water.

So we added some.

This is at Cheryl's site. She's the best camp host ever!

We put up a sign here too, saying the site is reserved for
the host, who will be here Tuesday May 11th.

Later, at Larry & Dianne's site.
We pulled out lots and lots of undergrowth.

Fluffy brush!

After we got those jobs done, we headed out for a short
hike on the Deer Marsh Trail where we spied these two.

I took a celebratory spring dip at the East Branch headwaters.

We love Deer Marsh. Especially before skeeter season!

It was nice and dry everywhere.

Back at camp, Arly got a fire a-going to cook supper.

We had our favorite camp supper, of course.  Yuuum!

Later, we met a friendly family from Iron River.

Ya I love kids.

Spring flowers and more!

On Easter weekend, Larry came by for dinner and since it was nice out, we lounged on the porch.

Got the porch furniture out! The 2 leggeds thought it was
too cool for supper out here, but we thought it was perfect.
One of the 2 albino squirrels hanging around this spring.
How could we have so many!

Ya the crocus are up. We love winter, but spring's OK too.

Saturday adventures at Quincy and Tech Trails

Easter weekend Saturday was a breezy sunny day. In between various chores, we got out for a couple romps.

We figured the trails at the mine would be dry.
Our buddy Tom works here, but
we didn't have the luck of seeing him today.

This south facing hill was indeed mostly dry.

Down the hill and 'round the switchbacks we go.
Some say MI is flat!

A few spots had crust yet.

Ya there's some good views especially before the leaves are out.

At the bottom.  Looking at the tramway track.

We had such a nice romp here today.

In the afternoon, the whole pack went
for a little romp at Tech trails main.

Coulda used the back country skis here!

I got a nice drink in the creek.

What a nice warm sunny day.

We headed back on the single track.
We had such a nice romp here today!

When we got home, we went
down the hill to inspect the remains of
the neighborhood sledding run Arly groomed this winter.
Oh then I got to see the kids that live here!
I love all the kids on our block.

Puppy news!

In breaking puppy news, there is a new dog on the block! Opal lives just down the street from us. For a 5-month-old pup she can really romp!

Such a cutie. And I can run fast!

Hi Andy! Ya I do like that ear scratching.

C'mon Wally! Let's play some more.

Can't you see? I'm right here!

You can chase after me, catch me if you can!

Older wiser mutts like to be aloof.

But pups can play all day.

I'll keep my eye on her as I gnaw on her treat.

Gromit's adventures to Tech trails

Gromit does get out about every other day for a little walk.  Today we went to Tech trails which have officially quit grooming.

Nothing fun ever happens around this place!

Then we go out.  What are we doing here?

Checking the rhubarb that's starting to poke out.
Ya spring is springing!

At Tech, they leave stumps on the trail and
hit them with their implements.  Why would they do that?

Ya I'm slow, but I still love to be out on the snow.
I'm so glad we got out to the trail today.
