Sunday trail work and old dog grooming.

On Sunday morning, we headed back out to the Boundary Rd Trails, to get a bit more work done to get ready for this coming winter. Later in the day, a certain old dog who is growing in a luxurious winter coat got a little grooming.

What a wonderful morning to be on the trail!
A little weed whacking here....a little limb pruning there.

It was cool enough out for tea time!

Ya we like the cooler fall weather.

Trail mutts must watch for vermin at all times.
Note the beaver dam down on the Pilgrim River.
They are getting ready for winter too!

The trail will be groomed to here, so we trimmed a handful
of saplings to allow a turn-around.

All done for the day.

Back at home, a certain wooly older dog got a
good brushing.

After a good grooming, old dogs feel like running.

A sure sign of winter's around the corner....Arly brought
Sandy's winter wheels to Garnet Garage where they'll
get installed after the brakes are repaired tomorrow.
We had such a busy but nice weekend!

Saturday trip to Wisconsin and Sunday trail work

On Saturday we hooked up the camper and headed to Wisconsin, but we didn't camp!  We went to Crandon to buy a used couch from some really nice people down there.   Then on Sunday, we headed out to the Boundary Rd trails for more brush clearing on a perfect fall day.

On the way home, we stopped at
Three Lakes to hike some ski trails.

I think we know the fellow who grooms them.

With bike traffic here, we didn't hike much.

Sunday morning...Who likes toast?

We watched the sun rise over the canopy today.

This log was trimmed off so as to not catch an implement.

Later, we strolled down to the creek to take a break.

I don't know why she wants to sit there. The water's fine!

Leaves are mostly down, and the shadows are getting long.

Such a gorgeous day.

Next, we headed to the main 2-track to
trim overhanging branches which would have
come down across the trail under snow load.

Arly had to put on the pole extension for this one.

At the end of the day, we took a little
stroll to check out the other leg of the
loop ahead of next weekend. I was bushed
and ready to go home to lie on the couch!

A busy, busy Sunday!

Sunday was our very favorite church service: Blessing of the animals!

Bucky was there to bless us all.

Charlie and Opal, the young kids on the block,
kept things lively!

Hi Kim! I've not seen you in some time.

I hope we see you guys again soon.

Little Opal is our neighbor. She's just a year-old pup.
I had to strut my old dog attitude.

With the young ones, things get crazy!
Later, we hiked at the Monk's trail and I got to
meet Mike and Christine!

We do enjoy coming here.

As you can see, it was a nice calm day.

There were lots of things to jump up on here.

See?

And this is Jacobs creeks I like to dip in.

Arly made me leap onto the rushing torrent.

We spied these 2 maple saplings
growing intertwined. Seems
appropriate at the Monk's trail!

Back to Boundary trails on Saturday

Saturday started out foggy but it didn't stop us from heading out to the Boundary Rd. trails, to get the turn-around at the end of the logging road we previously cleared.

It's really yellow out here.

Now we get back at it.

I think we're making the turn-a-round spot here.
Lots to cut here!

I kept on the alert for vermin.  This is what we are claering.

We stop for lunch.  What do you got?

It was warm and muggy.

After hunting, I just hang out near by.

Ya, I'm hunting again.

All done for the day.

The leaves that fell in the trailer while out here.
They are really coming down.

Some work done to the Boundary RD trails Saturday

Saturday morning's heavy fog wasn't conducive to trail work but when it lifted at noon, we headed out to accomplish a couple quick jobs at the Boundary RD trails. With a little chipping away each weekend everything will be ready when the snow flies.

We headed to the east end to clear the turn-around location.

Friendly hikers and mutts came by!

Sandy is cutting those shoots.

What a gorgeous fall day to be in the woods!

Shoots and saplings were cut to make this spot
wide enough for the Boss to turn around
this winter, with the pods on.

Arly tests its width out.

Ya, that might work.

These leaves fell on the truck in just a few hours.

It sure is fall now.
