Saturday Gogebic Ridge Trail romp!

On Saturday morning, we headed to Ironwood MI to pick up a used trailer and on the way back, we stopped for an adventure on the Gogebic Ridge Trail.  We'd not been on it in many years.  Wally of course never had.
It was a gorgeous and warm spring day,
and we're just itching to get out.

Oh wait!  They thought I needed fresh tick medicine before we go.
Now we're finally going and trail mutts like us, can just fly.

Oh dear, there was snow remaining here.

There was water everywhere.  The boardwalk was nearly a
1/4 mile long and sections were under water.

More snow and water.

Pretty moss growing here.
Sure must have been deep here this winter!
Finally, the end of the snow, and the start of the white blazes.

The day got hot.  Was over 70 today.

This is a blaze that's grown into the tree, which has fallen over.

We love spring hikes. No leaves means great visibility.

Oh good, another creek!  We'll see many today.

Trails mutts know how to shake things up.
What a spring day to be out in the woods.
Although, we think ALL days are good to be out in the woods.
The Jr Trail Mutt was more commonly out hunting,
not usually here with the pack.
With snow remaining, older mutts know to take a bath in it.

Young ones take the hint, and do the same.
It was warm enough out, the two leggeds have to resupply their water.

Chipmunk hunting was quite good today.

Thank heavens there are cool ponds found everywhere today.

Hey! We got to visit our doctor. Kim hiked to the Ledge too.

Finally, we made it to the ledge.
Such a nice view of Lake Gogebic!

OK, time for the mutts to lead the way back.

Fungus along the way.

Here's a new marking style we'd not seen before.

Good, another creek.
The trail is marked rather skimpy, and we lost it several times

Many trees have fallen across it.

At boardwalk, so we're almost back.  We did about 10 miles today
and the mutts were following by now.

And back at the parking lot.
It was a busy, busy day for trail mutts and
we were both fast asleep, within 2 minutes.
