Monk's Trail short Saturday hike

On Saturday morning we headed up the Keweenaw in hopes of doing some hiking before the rain moved in.  So the Monk's trail we did.
Gromit! We were here this winter.

Snow was deep here just 6 weeks ago.

Now that we could see all the signs, we saw a
new one that directed us to the cemetery.

We'd not seen this grave before.

Then we headed over to see Jacob's Creek.

Some used the stairs to get down to the creek.

When you have all-paw drive, you don't need the stairs.
Well, maybe on the 3rd trip to the creek they can be used.

Older dogs stay up on the bank.

And carefully traverse the hill with the stairs.

While puppies run amok and explore the running water.

Oh good! There's some snow left here.

Remember how much snow was over this cascade?

Next we went to look at the Arnold Mine ruins.

Puppies who are brave, can jump up onto the top.

Up and down and across the creeks, the trail goes.

Ya, the snow was up to the rails this winter.

He was just glad for a snow bath!

Old miner's shovel?  We went for lunch after this and rain started up.
At home, we've been seeing a cheery rose-breasted grosbeak.
First this spring!  Guess he thinks it's spring...

Special note, we'll be heading to the Porkies on Thursday for a four day adventure there while staying at the Little carp cabin.  Stay tuned!
