Braden-n-Bailey visit.

This week, our buddy Bailey came by just to romp with us!

Oh ya, this is SO much fun!

We run, we bite, we growl and paw.   It's so much fun!
Seems that Bailey got away from Braden who we wanted to see as well.

Oh ya, you can touch me too!

We just don't get to see you two enough.

Hey!  Can't you stay and play longer?  Don't go!  Do come back soon.

Bob Lake nature trail fun!

On Sunday we headed south to the Bob Lake campground to try and clear a bit more of those trails.
It got snowy as we drove south.
This is higher country than where we live.

Here we are!
Trail mutts like us do like cool weather and the snow.

OK Sandy, let's get in the woods and see what we've got to do.

Looks like it's been years since the FS has done anything here.

Lotsa little balsams here.

Lots and lots of trimming and clearing to do.

Could it be any prettier than this?

Maybe only if we could ski.

We take a break.

Lookin' better! We're about done.

At least this section is looking much better.
There's more to do yet.  We got about 1/4 of a mile done today.

Will be be back to do more this fall?  We hope so!

Now we head out.
We found that the FS is very appreciative of help like this.

Maybe we could walk and check out the portion we did this summer?

Oh good!  We will hike around and see it.

That's us going over the hill.  We don't get out much ya know.

Even older dogs can run fast when it's cool out.

Puppies think they're fast... but they're snot.

Ha!  We didn't even know we could see Bob Lake from here.
Fall season is the best! Oh, except for winter.

Running in the snow makes us giddy.

We led the way. We know where to find adventure, ya know.

We were glad to see the sun, for a change.
There's snow everywhere, even on the puncheon.

Oh, oh, a few trees have fallen across the trail this fall.

We stop to enjoy the view.

What a day to be in the woods.

But, isn't it always grand to be out?

Camper update!

On Saturday with snow falling and wind blowing, we headed south to Bark River MI to look at a camper/enclosed trailer that was for sale down there.   It was quite the trip down when we had to stop at Covington junction to let the visibility increase.  We nearly turned back then!
Nonetheless, we'd been trying to camp this fall and getting rained on most times out.  We also purchased a 6x6 ATV for trail work that we couldn't bring with us.
This will allow us to camp more comfortably,
especially in colder weather.

Hopefully we'll try it out next weekend!

Not sure when the Big Boss will come out but this will haul it in style.
Big thanks to the friendly folks who set this up.
Did we mention, they have a big happy lab who was also very friendly?

Sunday's hike near Lake Bailey

On Sunday afternoon, we hiked the trail at the Lake Bailey Audubon bird sanctuary.
We hiked here earlier this summer and the found
so it so overgrown, we could barely follow the trail.

We cross a cedar swamp and at the base of the slope, we stop at this spring.

Ya, we do love to have a nice, cool drink.

Now head up again and see flagging tape of all colors today.

Here the trail splits.

Oh dear, it's still not been fully cleared.

This is the trail.

Trail mutts don't need no brushed trail!

Hunting was good, we smelled and saw lotsa little critters.

Maybe they could use some help?

Could all these trees have recently fallen?

Maybe it's time to head home...
As we head down the slope, we stop for a view of the lake.
It was a nice day for a romp in the woods...but when is it not?
