Weekend trail clearing

On Saturday morning the dog truck was loaded and we headed SW to Forest highway 16.  We'll be working on the North Country Trail.
Older, wiser dogs know they need to stay close by when the
truck is being loaded.

We dropped the camper off at a nearby parking lot
and drove in on a logging road to start.

This is another unadopted section. Looking good after we had cleared it!

We didn't get very far in and needed to stop for lunch.
Good dogs will watch very carefully.

At the same time, young puppies will get bit and chased.

But I'm fast and you'll not catch me!  (yes, this is play)

Back at it, this is logging slash left on the trail.

An hour later, it's gone!

Let's take a break!

The two legged cleared trail while trail mutts hunt for mice.

We made it to the beaver pond and seen the fall colors here.

I'm so glad we're out here.

The only thing that can look better than this is clean white snow.

Late in the afternoon we hiked back to the truck
and trail mutts had slowed down much.

Camp was made and fires lit to cook supper.

It was a long day and we got back late, but well worth it.

Trail mutts will stay close by after so many hours out in the woods.
Ya, we do love camping.
It's bear season, and we heard those dogs barking today.
The next morning, we headed west right from camp
and found a tree across the trail right off.

Sandy gets it rolled off.

You guys get that done and I'll sit here and watch.

Done.  Now let's get a going!

It's not a long hike in to the uncleared section.

We found many old  branches cut off "hat rack" style.

This is what the brush looked like.

Now it's looking better.
Maybe it's time to get back to camp?

All better.  We cleared about a 1/4 mile today.

Oh no!  We found yet another tree across the trail.

Some people say pole-saws don't work for this job.
I wonder why they'd say that?

Now we have a little block to help keep atv's out.
Can we go home now?
