Weekend spring ski romp adventures.

On Saturday, with wet weather predicted for Sunday, the pack thought we should try get in one more ski adventure in...
We went to Gardner Rd just south of Mass City with the idea of
skiing in to the Middle Branch of the Ontonagon River.

This is the North Country Trail. Trees down and
across the trail, will be the theme today.

The bridge we raised a few years ago, is still good.

Oh dear.

We found tree after tree across the trail.
Will they get cleared this spring?

We got to the 1st road crossing and spied water everywhere.

With all the trees down and water from snow melt,
we decided to head north and take this road out.
Virulent hunting dogs watch over their domain.

And pass their slower 2 legged ones.

Snowmobiles have been down this road.

A south facing hill.
Ya it's spring, and hunting dogs can identify all the smells.

Back at the dog truck, we have lunch before heading home.

Later, we headed out to local favorite romping spot
- the Pilgrim Watershed Trail.

Give over!

Ya I have to cut around the slow-pokes.

While exploring off-trail, we discovered an old hunting blind.

Nice spot for a blind, indeed!
Maybe we could camp out a few nights?

Spring is springing and everyone is out eating.

Lotsa critters were out and about, just like us.
We had such a nice day, all while keeping our social distance
which is hard for us mutts. We love to socialize!

Sun-day fun-day at The Pinery trails near Baraga.

On Sunday, since there was no church service, the pack decided to get out for a nice sunny romp. We headed south to the Pinery trails near Baraga. The 2-leggeds said they'd not been there in over 10 years!
I can't read, but I heard my pack say it said "No Dogs".
How lame!

Who's going to chase the vermin away if we don't!

Oh hey! A friendly family of skiers appeared.

Turns out we met some of their other family
 members yesterday, including Birdie!

Sandy said, Connie (on the right) used
to be her boss and she was the best ever.

Finally, we got a-going!

Trails were in great shape for March.

Probably one of the last ski-able days here with this warm sun.

We got to meet Kim, one of the volunteer trail groomers!
We loved him and he rubbed us some.

Lotsa bare spots showing up.

But the trail was well covered in most places.

We had such a nice romp today...
and well worth the $20 donation we left.

Weekend fun!

On Saturday, for Arly's pre-birthday our main plans included skiing and social visits (among the virus shut down)...
First off, we stopped at Erickson Feed and got to be door greeters.

You know we don't get to socialize much.
Oh and no one ever scratches us either.

This lady says "could you be less friendly?"

Oh ya, the staff here is friendly too!
That's way we like to come here.

Now at the ski trail parking lot.   Who are you?

Ya Gabe, you can rub me some, we do like kids.

Birdie, I think maybe we can tussle some!

And chase.

Not to mention bark and bite!

Gabe got close to all this action.

Oh this is fun. We need to do this again soon!

Ya! We met some friendly skiers out on the trail.

Even old dogs feel giddy today.

Spring trail romping is the best!

They stopped for a tea break.
I took this opportunity to be a water dog.

OK, that was enough wading for today.

It got pretty warm today. 30 is hot for me!
Good thing I've had a springtime haircut already.

From the pack: A certain puppy was told to get on that snow mushroom and he certainly didn't want to...
His training continues.

Back at the parking lot, we met more friendly skiers.

You know we love kids!

Its been a busy, busy day and some mutts needed their shuteye.
