Spring Creek gorge romp

On Sunday, the pack thought it would be a good day for our first Spring Creek gorge romp of the season. The snow did not disappoint!

How can anyone like digging so much?
Yes the dogs are on snow about 4ft deep.

We zoomed along on Villi Maki trail, courtesy of some snow shoers.

I could go lots faster than this!

OK, right up there we'll peel off and descend into the gorge.

Snowy logs present fun training challenges for a certain puppy*.

It was scary but many snowy logs were traversed today.
You can't believe the volume of snow we've gotten in the past few weeks
 of cool weather!

Snow turned everything into a work of art.

Including this huge snow mushroom on this stump.

We traverse the bank.  With all this cool weather, the creek has
froze over and we can cross it, any old time we care to.

Did you know? I recommend digging in the snow.

Hey! This is deep.  So the snow sloughs off and tumbles down.

We got on another snow shoe track. We duck under this tree...

Or at least the 2-leggeds had to duck.

More artsy trees. This is from the flooding last summer,
which washed out many of the banks.

Back on another snow shoe-packed trail, and zooming along.

Snow dogs show their frosty mugs.

We like to make our own tracks!

We stopped for tea time on this log.

Heading back up, again on Villi Maki trail.

We had such an excellent adventure here today!

*Yes, we do train these dogs to go someplace for a photo.  This is part of being a trail mutt and knowing who is in charge.
