First Lake Ste Kathryn NFS camp of the year!

With a dry, warm weekend in the forecast, the pack thought they better get down to Lake Ste Kathryn NFS campground before the skeeters all came out and clear the Deer Marsh trail of dead-falls.

We took the site across from Cheryl, since it's grassy.
The soft surface is better for Gromit than the gravelly sites.

Saturday morning, on the stroll to the trail, we spied
some old wolf droppings right away.

Soon enough we found some dead spruce to remove.

It was leaning over the trail, hung up on a tree and
ready to fall onto the trail any time.

This old one fell right apart and the dust flew.

The spruce bud worm has created abundant job security for us!

Arly trimmed a few branches to improve the view
of Deer Marsh here.

Later, back at camp, we strolled next door.

Ya we went to visit Cheryl!

You're the best camp host ever.

Later, back at our site, things were winding down.

When you've been hunting vermin all day,
you just have to recharge.

Even old dogs relax in the evening.

Although, later I had to investigate the leaf pile.

Finally, supper was put on.

Cheryl stopped by just to say hi to us.
Oh and to invite us over later for s'mores!

MMM fresh white fish!

Hey, isn't it time to go visit?

Oh ya, we get to go see Cheryl again!

The breeze off the lake was refreshing.

Ya you can just keep going.

We love it here at Lake Ste Kathryn.

What a nice evening.
