Bob Lake trail clearing adventures II

On Friday night, we headed SW to the USFS's Bob Lake campground to enjoy the woods and get a good start on clearing the trails there.
Ya Sandy, we'll need water.  A few weeks ago when
we stayed here the pump wasn't operable yet.

How do we cut our own firewood here?

Younger mutts just wander about.

While older, wiser ones like to stay close by.

Ya, this is going to be great!  This was our favorite site here.

Hey are we gonna have supper or what?

Finally, Arly got a good fire going to cook up a steak.

What's he doing now?

MMM, Steak, toast and sweet-potato hash brows.

It's getting late and its time for...

Growl, bark and chase the puppy!

The next morning it's bacon & pancakes time.
It got down to about 40 last night.

Ya don't forget the coffee.

We started cleaning up trails that started by the boat launch.
The FS doesn't have the funds to do this any more.

Since we cleared the hiking trails last summer,
it's a breeze to do now.

Now we're across the road to work on the rest of
 the Beaver Lodge Trail.

Punky old dead fall are no match for the pole saw.

Oh this is a big old one.  I guess we'll have to come back
later with a more serious saw for this one.

This sign is never in the sunlight and remains good as new.

Our next obstacle.

After clearing the brush around the site Arly
got to work on the hung up, fallen tree.

Then the 2nd cut. See the saw dust fly!

One more cut to make a pass-through for the hikers.

Impressive number of sap sucker holes and lotsa sawdust.

I think we're done here.

So then we went for a dip in the pond!

And who did we see out there?  Swans!
They spent their nights on Bob Lake.

This grass will be waist high before you know it.
We'll come back in July to whack it down.

Did you know how fun it is to hunt for frogs?

Back at camp.

It's been a busy day in the woods.

After supper we took one more stroll.

The next morning. It was about 40 out again.

What pollution could this be!?!?   Pollen.

Breakfast! Camp oatmeal is permitted when it's
served with bacon.

Arly got a little fire going again.

Then we headed out for a little more clean-up work.

The beautiful day use/swimming beach area needed some clean up.

Just a little spiff-up brush clearing will make this area
more enjoyable to use.  We enjoyed it today!
