Silver Mountain area hikes.

This post is of adventures we did last weekend but my slowpoke pack never published.
Lets go!  Old dogs get a head start, but puppies can really catch up!

This is at Silver Mountain. We'd not hiked up here in years.

It's quite a bump up, so it has steps.  Look at those leaves!

The steps are quite old and becoming rustic.

At the top, we found blue tape everywhere.

This is a basalt dome and the interior of a volcanic vent.

But the views!

What are these bumps Gromit?

Wally, these were made when the glacier rolled
over the top of the mountain.

Now we're at another spot!

I hear rushing water! Let's go.
Hey, this is kind of scary.

Puppies especially get nervous at the pounding water.

We'll stay close, for security.
Hey! We met a hiker.
He's a friendly farmer from Nebraska on vacation.

Ya I passed her like she's standing still.

Here I come!

The Bear's Den overlook. We didn't see Smoky or any other bears.

There's lots of places to see within the Sturgeon Wilderness.

We've never been here before.

The trail approached the edge of the gorge overlook.

This area was looking more like the Baraga Plains.

OK one more place we've never been to before.
We saw some pretty lichen here.

This trail was an old logging road and near the wilderness boundary.
Moss crazy tree.

Not the most scenic, but a nice hike anyway.

Its was a nice hike and all, but we'd try its other end next time.

Gee someone installed this way in here, very far from any roads.
