Lake Ste Kathryn camp-n-trail adventures

On Friday, the dog truck and camp trailer got packed with tools and food and we headed south to Lake Ste Kathryn, for another fine camp-n-trail adventure weekend.
Right off the bat, we saw Cheryl was out and about,
so we went to say hi. She is the nicest camp host anywhere!

All set up...time to head out to romp around the Deer Marsh Trail.
Was pretty busy here but we managed to get the last lake side spot.

They were warned about the mosquitoes
and yes they were out in droves.

What insects wouldn't love this marshy area?

We had a nice little hike, despite the bugs and heat.

Back at camp, we promptly took another cool dip.

Then our neighbor was back, me and Wally went over
to get acquainted with him.

Oh ya Ken, I do like some back scratching. Wally ran off to hunt.
Arly got a good fire roaring to roast a steak.

Another peaceful evening at Lake Ste Kathryn.
We love this place!

We spied Cheryl out paddling.
Maybe she'll take us for a ride one day?

Next morning - coffee, bacon, and
pancakes to fuel a long day on the trail.

For trail work, first we tidied up a parking area and in the process,
cut some camp fire wood.

Then we hit the trail. They cleared brush leading up to this
viewing platform over the source of the East Branch
of the Ontonagon River.

Later, this grown-in punceon was trimmed back.

Lots better.

OK now let's get that brush pile off the trail.

Not sure how this debris got piled right over the hiking trail.

But a little sawing and lopping and lots of tossing
off sticks and the trail was clear again.

Back at camp....what's she doing now?

Shower time! 4-leggeds prefer a cool dip in the lake, of course.

I wonder how Ken made out fishing.

Later, we roamed over to Ken's site to see if he was back.
He is trail mutt approved!

Next morning. Going to be a muggy day!
A boat was on the lake fishing.

We were lucky to have help to clear from
the parking area going south.

We made it a bit farther than this sign.

Dead-falls look to have been here for quite some time.

Now it's gone!

This viewing area had brushed up and looked so nice after it
was removed.
Big thanks to Jim who mowed down hundreds of
little balsams taking over the trail in this area.
This crew really got-er-done today!
And Sandy seen a pine martin run by today.  The mutts missed it.

Lunch! Brats on the grill.

Before we left, we met Larry & Dianne.
We hope to see them again soon!
