With a nice fall day forecasted, on Saturday we packed up the dog truck and headed south to Lake Ste Kathryn for a trail clearing adventure. It's always fun to see the Deer Marsh Trail again.
We'd not been here since this summer and thought we should check it out. |
Cheryl's site. We were amazed that there was no one camping here. Must be too late for fishing, too early for hunting?? |
We parked at the East Branch headwaters trailhead and started work there. It was cool but calm out today. |
We found many dead spruce on and over the trail here. |
Few little cuts and this was moved off. |
Once these spruce fall, they are amazingly light. Not much left to them after the bud worms do their work. |
Once we got through this spruce forest, there wasn't much of anything down for quite a while. |
After taking a break at the shelter by the road near camp, we found this oak top that had cracked off and come down. |
What a grand day to gaze out over the marsh. |
Of course, it's always a grand day to watch for vermin! |
Arly had me jump up on this. I'm so brave! |
Last order of business was cleaning up beaver debris. Hopefully the board walk will make it another season! |
