On Friday morning, we headed south to Lake Ste Kathryn campground for more Deer Marsh Trail clearing adventures.
We got the site we had this spring and the friendly
neighbor dog came over to play. Her name is Bella! |
We got out for some trail clearing in the afternoon. |
But then the rain came and shut down our work plans.
Later, we went for a little stroll. |
This is on the stretch that we'd clear next. |
This is the reflection of a northern hardwood forest. |
And the headwaters of the East Branch of the Ontonagon River. |
Back at camp, we went to Bella's site again.
They're from Ohio and been here all week. |
It's getting late, and my pack got to cooking dinner. |
Another gorgeous evening at Lake Ste Kathryn. |
Then more friendly campers came by.
Hey! I'm right here! You can touch me too! |
We had a nice, quiet, bug-free evening. |
Saturday morning we were greeted by a muggy but coolish day. |
Lunch break on the down dead tree.
We moved if off the trail afterwards. |
Me and Gromit kept watch for vermin. |
Here we are, at that interpretive sign.
Yes all the brush got cleared off! |
After that trail segment was clear, we took a little break at camp.
We got more socializing in! |
Later, while back out working on the trail, we picked up more firewood. |
Wally is not a water dog... really, seriously, he's not a water dog. |
Sandy whacked the parking lot and now it's all better! |
After showers and dishes it was finally supper time. |
Later, we went for a short stroll to the kiosk. |
We thought this bit of history was interesting. |
Almost back to camp, and we got to say "hi" to our neighbors.
They are from Watton and Wally made several visits there last night! |
