Summer's first CAMBA camp-n-ride!

Each summer we travel west to the Chequamegon forest to ride the wonderful trails found there.  These are built by The Chequamegon Area Mountain Bike Association which we are members of.

Don't forget me!!  I see the campers being loaded.

Since we got to our favorite Namakagon CG after dark,
we waited until morning for photos.

After breakfast, we headed over to romp on Seeley Pass.

It's starting to green up.

The 2-leggeds said it was cool, but I got kinda hot.

We met friendly bikers on the trail.

Oh yeah, I never get scratched good like this.

Ya, keep it going. Both ends, that's good!

This is the high point of the Birkie trail.

Afterwards I went for a dip.

After lunch, we headed to Telemark to check out
the Ojibwe trail.
We heard it was fixed up. Not where we were!

On the way back to camp,  we stopped to see who
was at Rock Lake.  Arly spied an old Ginzu chained up there.

After we got back to camp, I still
wanted to hunt more, so the pack came
with me to the nature trail.

This is right across the road from our camp ground.

There are some ski trails here, and the nature trail.

Fortunately, there were some nice cool spots to take a dip.

I don't mind the marsh crossings.

At camp that evening, I got to meet some friendly
 cyclists from Duluth.

Camp supper! I had lame kibble, as usual.

On Sunday morning, I got straight to work.
Chippy hunting never ends.

We packed up, then headed to the Namakagon trail head.

Frogs were peeping in the marsh.

The sun came out some. Better than rain!

We had such a nice weekend.
I can't wait for our next camp adventure!

Swedetown trails opener!

On Tuesday we called Cross Country Sports and asked them if Swedetown trails had dried yet.   Pat Z said the lower ones were in pretty good shape but things got snowy as one climbed to the top.

What's this say?  I hope we're going to run here.

I think it say trucks can't be in here making a mess.

Oh good, we're going!

It was warm today and good thing we found some snow.
It was cool and something winter dogs can appreciate.

Trail features?

No problem for trail mutts.

We stop to consider doing the McGunn creek trail.

The only snow we found on a bike trail.   We didn't stop here.

But we did here.  This was on a ski trail.

I scratched up a snow-cone drink here.

Hard to see the trail for the leaves!

We had such a nice romp here today.
Wonderful start for our 1st ride at Swedetown.

On our way home on Sunday we stopped on M-64 just south of White Pine to hike a short section of the North Country Trail that our pal Jim maintains.

I love this trail and Jim!

This post seems new.

We head east towards Bergland hill.
My pack hadn't hiked this in years.

Spring plants are up. Trilliums were up but not quite bloomed.

Trail is just drying up.
Any earlier this spring it would have been all muddy.

At the top we admire the view with no leaves.

He had fresh blazes on it.  Thanks Jim!

On top of Bergland hill are towers used by large black birds.

Vultures!

No idea if this is still in use.

One took off and Arly got his photo.

We head back down.

It was hot.

This fungus was bright white.

Old trail blazes.

Winter dogs do get warm.

Almost back down.

We then crossed the highway to look at the trail there.

The beavers have been busy here.

We saw 2 new bridges. Way to go, NMK Chapter!

Weekend in Duluth!

We headed west Saturday morning to see Sandy's folks who came down from Ely MN.  They met us here to see the Duluth symphony perform Beethoven's 9th which my pack admires and had never seen live.  This wonderful piece is considered to be one of the greatest compositions ever written.

Oh ya Ray, no one ever scratches me.

I hadn't seen you guys since, well... Easter.

We stayed at the west Duluth Super 8.

This is a Trail Mutt-friendly establishment.

Oh ya, the staff here was very friendly.
I've deemed this place "Trail Mutt Approved"!

I even got to see kids!

Sunday on our way back we stopped for lunch in Ashland WI.

This is a nice pocket-park located downtown
that we eat at when we pass through.
I got to sniff the spring flowers.
