Keweenaw rocket launch site hike.

On Sunday afternoon we gathered with Mark's gang and headed up the Keweenaw to hike out to the end of the peninsula and see a rocket launch site.  For 10 years ending in 1971 upper atmosphere research rockets were fired from here.   More info can be found here.
We headed east from the cars.

Some friendly boys from Brazil came along.   I loved them!

It was pretty warm out for a winter dog.

The view from the tip.  I went for a swim which make me itchy.

Now we head north along the shore, towards the site.

The launch platform.

We hike back.

Oh ya Nick, you are such a ham!

Vacation adventures in Ely MN!

I just don't get out much, but rumor was Sandy's brother and his family were up in Ely so my pack loaded the camper and headed west, then north to be up there.
I showed Grampa my new toy.
Kids! Sarah and Daniel toweled me off. I do love that!

This is the best: frisbee and swimming, all at once.

I showed Jason how to shake. He seemed to like that.

Ya, you kids can touch me.

I shared the lake. They had a cabin on Farm Lake, east of Ely.

I wonder if they know I love fish too? I hope they catch some.

OK, I'm ready.

Kid time is the best. I never get any ya know.

Sarah, Jason, and Daniel

I got to meet a friendly neighbor.
He's going fishing too. Wonder if he'll bring me some?

At the cabin

We're ready for adventure!

I wish I could come along on their camping/fishing trip.

On Tuesday evening,
we heard that live music would be played downtown.

Oh ya, there were plenty of friendly kids here.

The group was pretty good!

Some really grooved to the tunes!
We all had such a nice time.

Back to the cabin we go.

A don't get much kid time ya know.

I love these kids!  When will I see you again?
On the way home, we stopped to camp at
Wanoka CG near Iron River WI.

Hunting was excellent, as I expect when camping in
northern Wisconsin.

Tomorrow we'll be home.
I had such a nice vacation in Minnesota!

Bridgefest parade!

You know I love a parade!  Keweenaw Nordic was in this parade Friday evening so I went along to see kids, parents and lots of friendly people.  Oh, did I mention kids!
More photos can be seen on Keweenaw Nordic's blog.
I helped get the float ready.

I also ran around and showed everyone just
how friendly trail mutts can be.
It's the Michigan Tech pep band!

Oh ya, I've met this friendly gang before.
We've been in lots of parades together.
There were moms and kids everywhere.

Although I do love the older ones as well.

I really, really LOVE Ski Tigers!  I'm a winter dog ya know.
Sandy's still working on the banner.

Oh good Mark, we're going.
Hey!   I found more friendly kids along the way.

Bobbi soothed me some.  That bridge was scary!
Ever water dogs find walking on grates
75ft above water kind'a scary....
Oh good, more friendly people on this side of the bridge.

I never get to see friendly people ya know.

Me and Bally love kids and grammas too.

I got to say hi to Bethany plus I made a new friend.

Ya, you can hug me.
My pack doesn't get me out much.
My vest makes me itchy, I had to shake.

This is what social trail mutts live for.  I had such a good time.
