Spring Tech Trail cruise!

Sorry we've not been posting much lately but my pack got a new computer and they're still struggling to get everything to work for them.  Lame! This is actually our 2nd run for the season because we had romped around these trails with our pal Tom yesterday but my lame pack forgot the camera.

I showed my jumping prowess.

We warmed up on the Time Trial Loop.

We like the cool sunny spring weather.

I stopped off to hunt.
Catching up is no problem for me
when they are so out of shape.

Trails are dry and clean!

We checked out the Inner Peace loop.

Lotsa rebuilt corners with berms here.

I had many nice cooling dips today.
Winter dogs do appreciate that!

Hunting was good everywhere.

We even saw some other riders!

Ya, I did get hot.

We headed towards the Mill Rd. trail head.

Snow! I would have taken a snow bath...

...but a regular bath was ok.

Hey! I spy more vermin.

We had such a nice ride - two days in a row!
I hope Tom goes with us tomorrow.

Bailey Lake hike and Meeme falls.

Tuesday hike with Mark and Bella!
At the Copper Country Audubon's Lake Bailey Wildlife
Sanctuary.

I led the way through the cedar swamp.

After crossing the swamp we climbed the bluff
and ran into snow.

At the top we could see the lake to the north.

The air was dry and visibility good.
Oh ya, we had such a nice hike to the top.

Patches of snow remain up here.

View to the south and we could hear the stream roaring below.

Markers of various colors showed the way.
Of course, us mutts didn't need no markers.

We stopped for snacks. Mark brought his maps.
Me and Bella keep telling him, stick with us
 and you won't get lost!

We head back down.

Aaaahhhhhh  winter dogs can cool off here.

This was along 5 Mile Point Road near Eagle River, where we ventured in to find the elusive Meeme falls.   Mark had tried to find them years ago but failed to locate them.

Me and Bella had to wait on the slow pokes, as usual.

It was brushy but a trail could be found.

Laying on the gorge edge, Sandy spied a rock engraved
with the falls' name.

Water was up and the falls quite nice.

The little gorge had many rapids in it.

We found what appeared to be an old bridge location.

We crossed the creek via "natural" bridge.
We hiked upstream to see what we could find.
Adventure dogs are all about that!
We had such nice adventures up north today.

Shove Ice lake shore adventure!

On the afternoon of Sunday April 12th Mark's gang hiked on the shove ice up along 5 Mile Point road that's located north east of Calumet.  Sorry to be so slow in posting these but we were having computer grief here.
Hi Dave! I love him, he scratches me.

Hi Bella!

The shore is still snow covered.

Mark checks out the view from atop the snow mountain.

I stayed close for safety sake.

Me and Lisa were so brave!

We floated on the ice berg together.
I leaped across the gap from the main land to the ice berg so bravely.
Mark, Bella and Arly made it out to the next ice berg.
They are VERY brave!  They were about 4ft thick.

This is really a pile of ice that's covered in sand.

We ended up nearby the 5 Mile Point Light house, now a B & B.

On the old breakwater

Me and Emmanuel took a break together.

Me and Bella both know how to get some good ear scratching.

Dave theorizes about the winch.

Time to head back.

We spied a drain hole in the ice.

We saw the Peterson's at work.

Another boat we spied was a lake freighter.  We later learned it was the U.S. Steel  boat the Edwin Gott

We hiked on rock....

...and beach sand.

I had to make a cooling stop. Ice water is the best!

Hunting was good.

We were so glad Kathy could join the gang again!

Almost back.

We had such a nice hike on the Lake shore today.
